TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA
The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
5 new channels in UPC Digital TV

From 11th of March UPC Digital TV offer is enriched with five new channels, including one in HD. Subscribers have access to three new stations offered by Polsat Television (Polsat HD, Polsat Film, Polsat Futbol), music and entertainment channel ESKA TV and Russian news channel Russia Today. Polsat HD, ESKA TV and Russia Today are available in Select and Max packages. Polsat Film and Polsat Futbol are part of Max package.
UPC is the first of major cable operators in Poland that introduced new Polsat channels to its offer. Including three new channels, UPC offers 12 stations belonging to Polsat Group: Polsat, Polsat HD, Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport HD, Polsat Sport Extra, Polsat Futbol, Polsat Film, Polsat Cafe, Polsat Play, Polsat News, TV Biznes and Polsat 2.
In addition, another new channel is music and entertainment station ESKA TV mainly addressed to young viewers. The last of the new stations is a news channel Russia Today that is broadcasting in English. Both ESKA TV and Russia Today are available to all subscribers of UPC Digital TV.
