TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA

The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››

Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch

Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+

On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››

Al Jazeera Sport broadcasts Euro 2008 in HD

The global technology provider, SIDSA, secures Al Jazeera Sport platform with KeyFly Conditional Access System to protect its High Definition (HD) content. It also controls viewers access to channels with sporting events such as: Spanish Football League, Italian League, Euro 2008 and Formula 1. Al Jazeera Sport consists of three SD and one HD channel.


Al Jazeera Sport digital satellite platform holds broadcasting rights to Euro 2008 football championships for the Middle East and North Africa. All the matches are available on Al Jazeera Sport HD, using SIDSA’s KeyFly Conditional Access System.

SIDSA is an audiovisual technology provider with active in semiconductor design, conditional access, digital headends and overall project management. SIDSA headquarters are in Madrid with additional offices in Dubai, Hong Kong, Moscow and San Francisco. Last year SIDSA carried out a pay DTT pilot in Spain offering pay-per-view football events and films, showing the technical viability of a platform based on Spanish technology.

Broadcaster’s bet on new digital TV Technologies and the availability of Premium content demand a content protection system that guarantees the business model. SIDSA’s KeyFlyXtreme is the latest security and encryption technique that provides the highest level of protection at a minimum cost.

KeyFlyXtreme is fully compatible with LCD and plasma TV sets, as well as with the different types of set-top-boxes (DVB-T, satellite and cable) with standard definition or high definition signal and AC3 audio standards. KeyFlyXtreme’s system may be integrated into the set-top-box using SIDSA’s security chip. The use of CAMs (Conditional Access Modules), inserted in TV sets and set-top-boxes makes it possible.
