Crime & Investigation Network, produced by AETN International, will appear in Polish version this September. Country manager of Chello Central Europe in Poland, Marek Cybulski, informed us about it. According to the unofficial information, a new channel produced by HBO, Cinemax HD, will appear in Poland before the end of 2009. This station was launched in early September of 2008 in the United States and may soon be a part of Polish satellite platforms and cable networks. HBO refuses to comment on the matter. more ››

Sports news channel in Orange sport info has started a satellite transmission. As previously announced, station is broadcasting free-to-air on Hot Bird 8 (13E) satellite. For now, these are only tests but the channel will soon be added to the offer of satellite platform CYFRA+ (channel 67 in platform's EPG). So far, Orange sport info was available as a part of Telekomunikacja Polska television offer. more ››

At the beginning of June National Broadcasting Council has granted a satellite license to TV Market 24 channel. Station will start test transmission this summer and from the very beginning it will likely be available in Cyfrowy Polsat offer. The new teleshopping channel will broadcast programmes divided inteo sections such as: health, beauty and sport. more ››

Discovery Networks Central Europe, a branch of Discovery Communications, and TVN media group have informed about a change of the ownership structure in Discovery Historia channel. Discovery Networks Central Europe takes TVN's shares in Discovery Historia and is from now the sole owner of the station. more ››

TVN International (ITVN) was launched five years ago on April 29th and at the beginning it was received by American Polonia. Later ITVN apperaed in Germany, Australia, Canada and France. TVN International gives Poles who live abroad a chance to watch programmes from such channels as: TVN Style, TVN Turbo, TVN Discovery Historia and TVN Meteo. more ››

The Walt Disney Company has announced that the Polish channel Jetix will be changed to Disney XD, the first Polish station for boys aged 6-14 years. The diverse programme offer of Disney XD will include both compelling live-action programmes as well as the animated series and local productions. more ››

Telekomunikacja Polska (Polish Telecom) went one step further and launches its second television channel. This time it is station with sports news - Orange Sport Info. This is another Polish sports channel but what is interesting, this new station is going to be free-to-air. more ››

TVN Group has informed that it will ask KRRiT (National Broadcasting Council) for a permission to cease the broadcasting of TVN Lingua on 15th of July 2009. After two years this project has not achieved a satisfactory level of profitability, which is a condition to continue the production for the new TVN Group channel. more ››

Despite the economic slowdown, there will appear more than 10 new television channels in 2009 in Poland. Three new channels are going to be launched by Polsat - movie channel, a station for children and a channel for youngsters in the autumn. Two movie channels Action Box for men and Box Lady for women should be offered by SPI company. more ››
