TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA
The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
Cyfrowy Polsat with TVP1 and Discovery HD from new frequencies
Cyfrowy Polsat has changed two transponders from which TVP1 and Discovery HD are available. TVP1 is now taken from Cyfra+ transponder (but not TVP2), Discovery HD is taken from a frequency of n platform. This moves create space for new channels - one in SD and one in HD. Cyfrowy Polsat has announced addition of new stations in HD and SD for the end of this year and early 2010. more ››
Cyfrowy Polsat with new HD channels
Dominik Libicki from Cyfrowy Polsat has informed us on a press conference that took place on 30th of November 2009 that in December or January next year new high definition (HDTV) channels will appear in the offer of Cyfrowy Polsat. For the moment we do not know exactly when and which channels will be offered. more ››
Cyfrowy Polsat: changes on channels list
Satellite platform Cyfrowy Polsat has made changes to its list of channels. This is due to start of a new VOD service. Channels that are part of the new service were placed on channels 23-26 and 51-65. Nickelodeon (channel 71) was added to Bajeczka package and Jetix Play was moved to channel 198. more ››
Cyfrowy Polsat with VOD in 2009
During the Media Summit 2009 conference held in Warsaw on 19.11.2009 Cyfrowy Polsat board member, Andrew Matuszynski announced an original VOD offer of Cyfrowy Polsat. Service would be launched at end of this year. Polsat guarantees innovative approach to Video on Demand, but without PPV (Pay-Per-View) as previously suggested in media publications. more ››
Cyfrowy Polsat: Cartoon Network and TCM on seperate channels
From 18th of November 2009 Cartoon Network and TCM (Turner Classic Movies) are available in Cyfrowy Polsat as two separate stations. TCM appeared on channel 44 and Cartoon Network remained on channel 54, but it no longer shares airtime with movie channel. more ››
Nickelodeon and Polsat JimJam in Cyfrowy Polsat
Cyfrowy Polsat prepares to widen its offer for children. A new channeld will be launched very soon and that is Polsat JimJam. It will be a part of Familijny package. Operator also announces changes to the Bajeczka package, on 2nd of December Jetix Play is going to be replaced by Nickelodeon. more ››
Cyfrowy Polsat began testing broadband Internet access
Cyfrowy Polsat began testing broadband Internet access. Service will be launched in the first quarter of next year, while an integrated package of services - television, telephony and Internet in the second quarter of 2010. Internet from Cyfrowy Polsat will be a wireless service, provided by UMTS standard networks: Sferia (850 MHz) and Aero 2 (900 MHz). more ››
2,917 mln subscribers of Cyfrowy Polsat
On 10th of November 2009 Cyfrowy Polsat, the largest pay-TV digital satellite platform in Poland, announced its financial results for the third quarter and 9 months of 2009. Cyfrowy Polsat subscribers base grew in the third quarter by 73,000 to 2,917 million. The total number Cyfrowy Polsat decoder`s users is 3,531 million. more ››
Polsat with channel for children in November
In November 2009 Polsat Television will launch a new channel for children. It will be following thematic channel after Polsat Futbol and Polsat Film. Polsat chairman Zygmunt Solorz-Zak has announced a start of Polsat's new station. More Polsat TV channels should appear on the market in 2010. more ››
New price list for Cyfrowy Polsat subscribers
From 1st of November 2009 Cyfrowy Polsat introduced a new price list. Unified HD package appeared for 20 PLN per month for fixed-term contracts and 25 PLN for other subscribers. For customers with contracts of indefinite period there are slight increases in packages. HD channels price is lower for subscribers with fixed-term contracts (up to 5 PLN). more ››
