TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA
The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
TVP Sport in Cyfra+?
Polish Television predicts that TVP Sport can appear in the near future in Cyfra+. Addition of TVP's sports channel to the offer of French operator is open and close to its finalization. TVP has ensured from the very beginning that its sports channel will be available on many satellite platforms. more ››
Cyfra+ with 1,38 mln subscribers
Cyfra+ started 2008 with 1 million subscribers and finished the same year with nearly 400,000 new customers (40% increase). Cyfra+ platform closed 2008 with 1,380,000 subscribers and that is a lot more than predicted in initial sale plans. more ››
HBO Digital no longer for free in Cyfra+
Cyfra+ subscribers could watch programmes and movies from HBO Polska VOD service for free nearly a year. From 2nd of January 2009 HBO Digital is no longer a free service but prices for the new and existing customers will be reduced. more ››
Cyfra+ without TVN Lingua and Religia.tv on its transponder
Cyfra+ is no longer broadcasting two channels produced by ITI - Religia.tv and TVN Lingua from its transponder. Platform's subscribers have access to these channels from the transponder which is also used by subscribers of N television and TNK (smart card tv). more ››
Cyfra+ with 350,000 new subscribers
From the beginning of October, when the birthday promotion was introtuced, Cyfra+ platform has gained more than 350,000 new subscribers. This is probably platform's record. Two promotions helped to achieve that success - Birthday Madness and Christmas Promotion. The interest was so great that retail outlets began to run out of Philips HD PVR set-top boxes. more ››
Cyfra+ VOD launched on 22nd of December
22nd of December 2008 is the day when Cyfra+ launched its VOD service with on-demand programmes. Subscribers with PVR decoders will be able to use a continuously updated library of several dozen titles without leaving their houses. Cyfra+ VOD is the second, after HBO Digital, service of this type offered by platform. more ››
New Cyfra+ packages for all subscribers
CYFRA+ has already started accepting applications from subscribers who want to change their packages to the new ones introduced about 2 months ago. From the very beginning Powitalny+, Podstawowy+, Komfortowy+, Prestizowy+ and Prestizowy HD+ packages were available for new subscribers. In the months of November and December subscribers who already had active contracts with the platform received them without additional fees.

France TV option in Cyfra+
On 2nd of December 2008, under an agreement with French public broadcaster France Television SA, Cyfra+ will introduce a new option "France TV." Option includes such channels as: France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and France Ô. "France TV" option costs 12 PLN per month. more ››
HBO Digital VOD from new Cyfra+ frequency
HBO Digital VOD service available in Cyfra+ changes its frequency from tp. 4 on the frequency 11,278 GHz, pol. V, SR: 27500 FEC: 2/3 (DVB-S2/8PSK) to tp. 114 - 10,796 GHz, pol. V, SR: 27500, FEC: 3/4 (DVB-S). Movies are sent during the night - from midnight to 6:00. Feed is encoded in Seca Mediaguard 4. more ››
Discovery package only on Cyfra+ transponder
On 13th of November 2008 transmission of Discovery package (Science, Travel & Living and World) on Hot Bird 6 (13E) satellite has been stopped. Channels were available on GlobeCast UK frequency - 11,117GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4 (it is possible that BBC HD Poland will appear here in December 2008). This situation is caused by the transfer of three Discovery channels to Hot Bird 7A (13E) satellite to the new Cyfra+ transponder - 10,795GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC 3/4. more ››
