TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA
The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
SES ASTRA Enters Croatian Market
SES ASTRA announced that it has signed an agreement with CME group for the launch of the first Croatian channel on ASTRA. SES ASTRA will provide capacity to CME group for the broadcasting of the commercial programme Nova TV via its 23.5E orbital position. ASTRA reaches 1.1 million households in the Benelux, Czech and Slovak Republic and offers nearly 400 digital TV and radio channels. more ››
Intelsat reports IV quarter and 2007 results
Intelsat, Ltd., the world’s leading provider of fixed satellite services, on the 20th of March reported results for the three month period and fiscal year ended December 31, 2007. Intelsat, Ltd. reported revenue of $575.5 million and a net loss of $2.6 million for the three months ended December 31, 2007. more ››

Tele Columbus & Eutelsat Germany to launch new platform
Tele Columbus, Germany’s third largest cable operator with more than 3.7 million homes, and Eutelsat’s German subsidiary, Eutelsat Deutschland today announced they will establish a unique platform for bundling digital channels and services for German cable homes from Eutelsat’s EUROBIRD™ 9 satellite. more ››
W7 launched in 2009
Eutelsat Communications and Alcatel Alenia Space have signed a contract under which Alcatel Alenia Space will manufacture and deliver Eutelsat’s W7 communications satellite. W7 will be launched in second quarter 2009 to Eutelsat’s 36 degrees East location. more ››

New subsidiary of SES Astra
SES Astra create a new wholly owned subsidiary of SES Astra TechCom in this country. Its new subsidiary, SES ASTRA TechCom Belgium, aims to expand the satellite services in and from Belgium, and to develop active cooperation with other Belgian space companies. more ››

The Mobile Unit of RTL interactive has signed a contract to use the interactive Blucom service with SES Astra, thus enabling RTL viewers to benefit from the added value of the new ASTRA service. more ››
Intelsat renews CCTV contract
Intelsat announced that China Central Television (CCTV), the national broadcaster of the People’s Republic of China, renewed a multi-year contract for the global distribution of its programming. CCTV is also utilizing Intelsat for its international backhaul transmission of the Asian Games from Doha, Qatar, back to Beijing, which start and run through December 15. more ››
Astra 3B in 2009
SES Astra has awarded the contract for the construction of its new satellite, Astra 3B, to the European satellite manufacturer Astrium. As prime contractor for Astra 3B, Astrium will design and build the satellite. more ››
